What Does GivingTuesday Support?
Our goal is to raise $40,000 during GivingTuesday. Your donation is tax-deductible, needed and appreciated! Your gift will go towards these meaningful programs within the Annual Fund
GRANTS
Donations raised for the Annual Fund help fulfill the needs of our passionate students. Funds raised go directly to support their academics, performing and visual arts, clubs, and sports - programs not funded by CPS. The 100 clubs, 37 interscholastic sports teams, and every classroom are eligible to ask for funding through the Annual Fund. In addition, giving to the Annual Fund allows us to support the school when its faced with an unforeseen expense that is not met by CPS.
DOLPHIN DEPOT
We are committed to building a Purposeful Community among its families, one that continues to celebrate and respect the diversity among us. We want the opportunities in which we interact to be ones where everyone feels welcome and valuable to our school's future. We also want to create an equitable experience for all our students to give them the best opportunities for success.
While our students were learning remotely during the first year of the pandemic, we became acutely aware that financial insecurities were magnified. We created Dolphin Depot to assist students with academic and electronic needs while they attended classes from home. Our initiative has greatly expanded over the last year to connect more people and resources within our circle. This includes technology (graphing calculators, headphones, digital watches), academic materials (test prep books, classroom supplies), and other items of support (coats, shoes, hygiene and meal kits) for our students. We believe we are a Community of Champions, and the Dolphin Depot is a powerful opportunity to stand together.
DOLPHIN POND
It's the Whitney Young version of Shark Tank! Dolphin Pond provides a place where students pitch their idea to start a business or fund a Senior Experience project. Your donation will help us fund creative ideas brought to us by our amazing students. In previous years, we received 18 student proposals totaling $13,000 in need. With only a limited allocation of funds, we were able to fund seven innovative ideas including a magazine startup, an art shop in Etsy, a teen technology coding site and others. This year, we've increased our budget in hopes of funding even more projects this year!
Thank you for your support of Whitney Young and all of its students on GivingTuesday.
