Did you know that budget cutbacks at CPS have resulted in severe shortfalls in funding for Whitney Young? The FoWY Annual Fund provides necessary funds to support many programs at Whitney Young that are not funded by CPS. Your tax-deductible donation supports all aspects of our educational programs including arts, technology, athletics, science, after-school programs and more. FoWY Annual Fund allows the school to continue to provide necessary equipment and supplies to its classrooms, as well as important extra-curricular activities.

Did you know that because of your support last year… 

AP Environmental Science received funding to create Ecosystems – engaging students creatively and inspiring them to thoughtfully consider the needs of various ecosystems.

Diverse Learners received tools they need to teach their students important life skills.

Physics classrooms received equipment to create more hands on inquiry-based activities.

Model UN was able to attend the University of Chicago Conference which allows them to compete with schools from around the nation and helps improve their research, debating, public speaking and diplomacy skills. 

Guitar classes now have acoustic curtains for their program to improve the sound and ability to learn.

Creative Writing students now have a professional dramatist, which helps them understand what is necessary for writing a successful play, better enables them to compete in the Pegasus Playwright Contest, and provides PD for the English teachers.

Girls Lacrosse has necessary equipment for their new and growing program.

Did you know that many requests for financial support were not met? Only 30% of funding requests made in the 2014-2015 school year were fulfilled.
