Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Campaign of Champions?
Whitney M. Young Magnet High School is The School of Champions. Year in and year out, Whitney Young wins numerous city and state titles in both academics and athletics -- more than any other CPS school. Yet its facility is nearly 40 years old and in need of a face lift. The Campaign of Champions is being launched to raise money for improvements to the Whitney Young facility so that we can continue to attract the best and the brightest students in Chicago.
What kind of capital improvements?
The capital improvements needed are not the bones of the building, but the furniture, classrooms, science labs, lockers, library, lunch rooms and locker rooms. This School of Champions, and the champions that occupy the classrooms and hallways, deserve a facility where they can continue to work and succeed as champions. Our goal is to raise $500,000 through the Campaign of Champions.
If I decide to make a donation to the Campaign of Champions, is the donation tax-deductible?
Yes, we are a 501 (c)(3) and donations are tax-deductible.
If I have questions about the campaign, how can I discuss this further?
