What Does Giving Tuesday Support?

Our goal this year is to raise $100,000 during Giving Tuesday. You may designate your gift to any of these meaningful programs:

Academics - Fund programs related to classrooms, labs, and the library that affect every single student at Whitney Young.

Arts - Fund visual and performing arts programs at Whitney Young including band, choir, orchestra, guitar, piano, drawing & painting, sculpture, ceramics, video production, graphic design, digital photography, drama, dance and more.

Athletics - Fund programs related to the 37 interscholastic sports teams at Whitney Young from girls soccer, aquatics and lacrosse to boys tennis, baseball and track.

Extra Curricular - Fund programming for the 100 extra-curricular activities such as Best Buddies, Eco Club, Latinos Unidos, Girls who Code, Pride Club, Debate Team, NHS, and Mock Trial.

About Us

Founded in 1975 and located in Chicago's West Loop, Whitney M. Young Magnet High School (WY) has a tradition of academic excellence and ethnic and cultural diversity.

Ranked the 4th best high school in Illinois (U.S. News & World Report, May 2017), and 2nd most diverse high school in the U.S. (Niche, June 2015). Whitney M. Young Magnet High School offers a very rigorous college preparatory curriculum with two programs: Magnet High School program grades 9–12, and Academic Center grades 7 & 8. Demographically, the school is a microcosm of the entire city, as its enrollment is drawn from the city at large.
